Hiker Survives a Frigid Night in a Campground Bathroom (pln16)

In this article the hiker, Chad Koch found himself lost during his hike. He was forced to take refuge in the campground restroom when a winter storm dumped more than 18 inches of snow and dropped the temperature below zero. Koch's dog "Snoopy", a small jack russell terrier was killed from exposure to the frigid snow drifts. Koch's mother reported that he had not returned late Monday. Search and rescue volunteers went looking for Koch on ski's snowmobile's and horseback when they were forced to suspend the search because of the harsh weather conditions. They resumed hunting when they herd that Koch had been found. When Koch woke the sun was rising allowing Koch to find which way was east. He walked eastward until he saw a man plowing his drive. The man allowed him into his house gave him coffee and a warm blanket. The man also called the authorities. This was important to me because it tells people to always be as careful as possible and how to protect yourself if you are ever in a situation like his. Most people would think this was important because it sends a message to people reminding them to always be prepared for any thing.

Accused Killer of Denver Bronco is Facing new Charges (pln15)

According to the Denver Post the man accused of killing Darrent Williams (the broncos cornerback) is now being faced with new charges of possessing dangerous contraband in Denver City Jail. Willie Clark is facing life in prison for the murder of Williams. Clark is also facing these charges for the shooting of Kalonniann Clark, this woman was not related to Clark but was going to testify in an attempted murder case against Brian Hicks. Hicks was one of Clark's associates. This article about Clark matters to me because I think we should try to keep dangerous people who have been convicted with things such as murder put away so that they can not hurt anyone. Most would agree with me because we all want to be as safe as possible and don't want dangerous people running around freely. People should always have their share of punishment when they commit such crimes so that it decreases the chance of them doing it again.

Butane Tanker Explosion Closes Highway (pln14)

A butane tanker exploded when the second "pup" trailer malfunctioned. The malfunction caused the trailer to roll. The truck was carrying 12,547 gallons of butane. The second trailer caught fire and the fire spread to the main trailer. This caused the two trailers to explode and sent the pup trailer flying more than a half mile from the original site. People helped the 77-year-old Paul Prime out of the cab before the explosion. I think it was great that people helped this man out of the cab. If more people in our society would help each other we would have a better world. I think most people would agree that it was great for those people to help the driver. I am sure if any of us were the one in that situation, we would want someone to help us.

Businessman Crushed by Truck (pln 13)

A man in Pueblo was crushed by a trash truck he was repairing in an ally behind his family business. Bill Anderson was working under a trash truck at about 5:15 p.m., the truck was on jacks and being supported by cement blocks. It was said that the cement blocks were moved when the man pulled on a wrench. The fire department lifted the truck up but the paramedics could not revive him. I think that this is a horrible story and that it is very sad. People need to be more careful when doing things like this. Most people would agree that people should always be very cautious when doing work like this.

Boulder Arson Suspect Arrested (pln 12)

In this artical an arson suspect was arrested. Bradley Lee Eckert is suspected of burning his old girlfriends apartment complex. He had a district court arrangment that he did not show up to. The police found him at 8800 block of lakeside drive at 5:30. I think that the police made the right dicision by puting this man in jail. He was very dangourus and needed to be put in jail were he couldn't hurt any more people. Most people would agree that he should be put in jail so that he can't hurt any more people or commit any more crimes.

Thanksgiving Traveling (pln 11)

DIA thinks that this years Thanksgiving travelers will be decreased. The decrease is due to the economy. Even with the decrease , this will be the third busiest Thanksgiving in 13 years. DIA is having musicians and dancers perform during the day. I think the economy has a lot to do with the travel being down for the holidays. A lot of people can not afford to travel this year. People are choosing to stay home and have Thanksgiving with their immediate families instead of spending the money to travel. I fell this is a good idea for those who can not afford to travel. I think a lot of people feel that it is too expensive to travel this year and will be staying home. I think people feel that they cannot afford to use their money in this way with our economy.

A Woman Faces 20 Years in Prison For Punching a Flight Attendant (PLN 10)

A woman may go to prison for 20 years for punching a flight attentdant. Christina Szele was on a flight from New York 'and punched a flight attentdant because she told her she could not smoke. According to the article' Szele was yelling obscenities and racial slurs at the flight attentdant. The security handcuffed her in plastic handcuffs. Szele broke the handcuffs and punched the flight attendant in the jaw. The plane was then turned around to go back to Denver. Szele was arrested and put in jail. She was to come back for a trial' but never made it back because she was arrested in New York. She was picked up for being on drugs. She got two counts for being on Cocaine and being violent. I think that the law made the right decision by putting her in jail because she is so violent. I do not feel that she should be able to get away with punching a flight attendant. Maybe this will help her to get some assistance with her drug abuse. I feel that most people in the world would also think that she should go to jail. Most people would think that she should be punished for her actions.

"My Question For Senator Obama" (pln 9)

In the article "My Question For Senator Obama" by Karl Fisch, there were many things that mattered. First, he thinks that both senator Obama and McCain have talking points about education, but he thinks that people want to go further than just a talking point. He thinks that people want to know what senator Obama and senator McCain's visions are for the students k-12. Karl thinks that they should have a specific vision for these students. I agree with Mr.Fisch on this subject. I think that the senators should have a specific plan for students k-12. I think they should share this plan with America so that people can look at these plans and have another thing to help them decide who they are going to vote for. Many people in America would agree with me and Mr. Fisch on this subject. Most Americans think that our president should have one set plan for our education system. Americas future president should have a good set plan for the American education system.

In this article by Will Richardson, the thing that matters most to Will is, education. He held a George Lucas Education Foundation webinar. He thinks that we need to do more in order to make education better. I agree with Will on this topic . We need to do anything we can as a community to help improve the school systems. From donating a couple of dollars to starting your own foundation, any contribution can help improve the schools. Most people would agree on this topic. Many people feel that we need to improve the school systems in America. There are many things we can do to improve the schools if we all just work together.

PLN 7 "Ritter's Attempt to Cut Prison Rolls"

In the article "Ritter's Attempt to Cut Prison Rolls", not much mattered. The only thing that mattered, was trying to keep inmates from getting back in jail two or three years after getting out. Governor Ritter wants to try to keep prisoners from going back to jail after they are released. He thinks they should not be back in jail this soon after they get out. This relates to me, because I don't think that these people should be back in jail this soon after they are released. I think that if going to jail is not teaching them a lesson then we should find other options which will make them desire to stay out of jail. We need to have a plan which will help these people start over and make good lives for themselves. This idea relates to the world because most people don't think that people should be going back to jail so soon after they get out. It also relates to the world because, if we could help these people become better citizens, our world would be safer. We as a community need to find another way to discipline people and give them the desire to stay out of prison.

Reflection on "RDU new" (pln 5)

In the article about RDU by David Warlick there were may things that mattered to David. First he likes that the RDU airport is so nice. He likes that there are power outlets and USB outlets on the seats. He says he will never fly another airline again. I agree with David on this subject. I think that the RDU airport is a very nice one. It is very useful to have both USB and power outlets on the seats in the terminal. This is associated with the rest of the world because most people would agree that the RDU airport is very fancy. Most people use power and USB outlets all the time therefore they would agree that it is very helpful to have them on the seats in the terminal so they may use them freely while they wait.

In the article "Carbon Footprint Calculators", there were many things that mattered to Juliana Rotich. First, she loves the new carbon footprint calculators. She likes it that we have something so advanced that can be used for every day life. She really likes the fact, that we now have the more advanced carbon footprint calculators (the PEIR-personal enviroment impact report). Another thing she likes is, that you can use these high tech gadgets to get personalized reports, find the enviromental impact and analyze your exposure to CO2. It is imporatnt to her that we are able to create a better enviroment using this technology. There are many things that mattered to Juliana, however a healthy enviroment is the most important.

Reflection on "Fischbowl"

In the article "The Fischbowl",there were many things that mattered to Karl Fisch. First he thinks that having political adds in video games is a good idea. He says this is a smart thing to do because there are roughly one third of American households that have either xbox 360 Sony PS3 or Nintendo wii. This relates to me because i also think it is smart to put political adds in video games. This is a good idea because when that many Americans own a game system the poles will go up way faster because more people will see the information and decide who to vote for. Also because a lot of people who see things in video games decide that they are cool and that they want one. This way many people will decide they want to vote and the candidate with the most adds in video games will most likely get more votes. Therefore wining the election. This connects to the world because most people would probably think it was cool that political adds were in there video games and more people would vote.

In the article "2 Cents Worth", there were many things that mattered to the author. First he likes when people make commercials for learning. Also he was impressed with the technique the people used, which was animoto. He said they basically flip and video each other as they talk. He says that doing this is very powerful and easy. The way this relates to me is that I also find this to be a very good strategy. I think it is very useful and smart way to do something. It is smart because they video tape what they say so that if they have a really good thought and cant remember what they said afterward then they can just refer back to the tape. The way this relates to the world is that many people agree on this idea. Many people think that it is smart to record what you are having a conversation about. The reason a lot of people think this is because, they also agree that if you have a good thought and need to refer back to it sometime In the future it is smart to video tape it because then it is there for you to use as you please.

In the video "Did You Know?" by Karl Fisch, there were many things that mattered to him. First he believes that one day a "super computer" will be created, meaning that a computer will be created that is smarter than the human brain. Also he believes that technology is moving so quickly that by the time kids learn something it will be out dated. The way this connects to me is that I also think that technology is moving very fast, and improving as time passes. I however, don't believe that one day a computer will be smarter than the human brain. I think that computers will keep advancing but will always have glitches. The way this connects to the world is that some people believe that there will be a super computer, and others don't believe a computer will ever become that smart.

In the Video "The Machines are Using Us", there were many things that mattered to the creator of this video. First, he liked that we are able to use technology to write and do things that we could not do before. Also, he liked the fact that technology keeps advancing so that we have more and more things we can use it for every day. He thought that using the computer to write was better than writing on regular paper. This Connects to me in the way that I also think that using a computer to write is more efficient and fun than writing using pencil and paper. Also, I like the fact that technology keeps advancing and getting better so that we are able to use it for more things as time goes on. The way This connects to the world is that most of the world also likes the fact that the technology we use keeps advancing and improving as time passes. Also most of the world likes that we are able to use this technology to research, write, and do many other things in order to make our lives easier.
